The Hardware Fair / Practical World 2006 features 3,491 exhibitors from 58 countries presented the latest product innovations and service trends in the areas of tools, security systems, locks and fittings, as well as builders', home improvement supplies / DIY.
It also set a record with international visitors of over 75,000 from 140 (2004: 114) countries. The International Hardware Fair / Practical World 2006 has slightly exceeded the good result of the 2004 event, also impressively confirmed its status as the world's leading trade fair and innovations show for the security systems, locks and fittings as well as builders' supplies / DIY segments, and even further extended its internationality.
Regarding to the Koelnmesse Executive Director Oliver P. Kuhrt, "The international figures are outstanding. We have an increase in visitors from South America of over 60 percent, an increase from the USA of 26 percent and almost 20 percent more visitors from Asia. There is a new influx of visitors to Cologne from Eastern Europe!"
"Against the background of what is still a very tense, general economic situation, this result is a very big success for the sectors represented," Oliver P. Kuhrt continued. "Thanks to the very great product range width and depth, the outstanding internationality and the very good visitor quantity and quality, the event is the worldwide unrivaled platform and an indispensable impulse generator for its sectors."
"Go for Cologne" - this call echoed loudly throughout the run-up to the event right across the international DIY world and was heard. The hardware sector in particular expressed the greatest praise for the event with its tradition and roots extending back to the 1920s. At the fair four companies; Brockhaus HEUER GmbH from Plettenberg, Altenaer Geck GmbH, Heinrich Görtz KG, Wuppertal and Johann Kretzer GmbH & Co from Solingen, which have been continuously exhibiting here for 50 years, were presented with awards. "Half a century of customer loyalty is without doubt unique in the international trade fair world", emphasized Hans-Joachim Kampen, Event Product Manager. These can only be shown by the world's leading fair with its multi-sector combined approach!
In 2008 the INTERNATIONAL HARDWARE FAIR / PRACTICAL WORLD will be held in Cologne from 9th to 12th March.
