The ecological gabion is one of the latest ecological engineering methods that improve the traditional gabions. The major improvement is to use galvanized steel bars with excellent strength and weatherproof properties to replace the typical PVC-coated fine wires, but the advantage of porosity necessary for habitats of living thins is maintained. While we are at the times when ecology and environmental protection prevail, ecological gabions provide a superb ecological engineering solution that meets security and practice requirement. In addition, the advantages of a simple structure, fast installation and easy transportation are benefical for urgent disaster alleviation and repair, These gabions impose the least impact upon the flow, flowing velocity and blance of silt in the rivers and streams as well as the appearance of the environment. Meanwhile, huge diversified space can be created for animals and plants. Its invisible effect can be termed as the best choice among ecological engineering methods. The process of construction statement 1. Stake out: Comply with the design chart and datum point for measurement to conduct stake-out and set up the foundation of the ecological gabion at slope tracks, ecological gabion Surface line and slope line. 2. Soil preparation: Level the site where the ecological gabion is to be laid to the design height and choose proper equipment to compact it. 3. Assembly of ecological gabion: Install five grids panel of the ecological gabion according to the layout. Grid panel are connected with assembly sleeves and stacked in a crisscross way. Interface between two ecological gabions is jointed with a Łp8mm connection loops. 4. Stone material inside ecological gabion: Load cobbles and pebbles directly with machines and tools. When the diameter of stone is smaller than the mesh, add a woven geobag inside the ecological gabion before loading. 5. Slope planting: Sod or turf reinforcement mat (TRM) is laid outside the ecological gabion. A woven geobag for gabion is used to fix inside. Select proper material at site to compact it. 6. Installation of ecological gabion lid: As strength of ecological gabion body is great, the problem of an expanded gabion body occur while loading cobbles and pebbles. Upon completion of loading, lock the gabion lid directly. 7. Repeat the above steps 3 thru 6 for stacking and installation of the second and third layers of the ecological gabion until design layer number is accomplished.
