The APExxxx series are very low cost voice & melody synthesizers with 4-bit microprocessor. They have
various features including 4-bit ALU, ROM, RAM, I/O ports, timers, clock generator, voice and melody
synthesizer, current D/A and PWM outputs, etc. The audio synthesizer contains one voice-channel and two melody-channels. Furthermore, they consist of 27 instructions in these devices

• I/O ports :
• a). All bits of PRA can be programmed to input/output individually. All bits of PRB/PRC can be configured to input/output individually.
• b). Input pins can be configured as pull low or floating. Output pins must be standard output.
• c). PRA, PRB and PRC can be wake up ports when they be configure as input port.
• Stack: 2-level subroutine nesting.
• Internal interrupt: Timer0 (TR0, 9 bits) overflow interrupt (address 10H).
• HALT Mode :
• When the device enter sleep mode to reduce power consumption, user can wake up the device bychanging data of input port.
• Internal Reset:There are 4 methods of internal reset:
• a). Power-on reset
• b). Watchdog reset
• c). Low voltage reset
• d). External reset
• Melody output :
• There are two melody output channels. User can mute either or both melody channels by clearing special function registers 2AH or 2BH. The melody synthesizer consists of octave and tone. There are eight steps for octave and thirteen steps for tone in the device. In conclusion, the melody function can be implemented by microprocessor instruction.
