• Electrical connectors are widely employed in the ends of cables for electrically coupling two electronic devices together for signal communication therebetween. With the progress of technology, more advanced electronic products are available and they uses different transmission interfaces. For example, universal serial bus (USB), digital video interface (DVI), high definition multimedia interface (HDMI), etc. are some well known ones. Electrical connectors compatible with these interfaces are also developed constantly. Developed by Sony, Hitachi, Thomson (RCA), Philips, Matsushita (Panasonic), Toshiba and Silicon Image, the High Definition Multimedia Interface (HDMI) has emerged as the connection standard for HDTV and the consumer electronics market. HDMI (Hi-Definition Mutimedia Interface) is a transmission interface developed for the next generation multimedia audio video systems including DVD players, game box converter, TV box, and etc. A HDMI device is a transmission interface utilized for transmitting high definition multimedia digital signals, including high fidelity images and multi-channel audio signals. Although the DVI technology improved the resolution and quality of pictures on LCD screens and protected against detection and piracy, it lacked the ability to transmit digital audio signal and thus required users to incorporate an additional line or use traditional AV terminal for signal transmission. HDMI has additional functions for home-use electric equipment and downward compatibility based on DVI. These standards can be used as high-speed interfaces. Because HDMI is practical for transmitting digital data without compression, it effectively reduces signal interference and attenuation due to conversion between digital signal and analog signal. A HDMI connector is a small-size connector developed following the step of SATA (Serial AT attachment) interface connector. An HDMI (High Definition Multimedia Interface) connector assembly integrates audio and video information into a single digital interface to be used with, for example, digital video disc (DVD) players, digital television (DTV), high definition TV (HDTV), set-top boxes, and other audio and/or video devices. The HDMI connector also provides two-way communication for digital TV, DVD player, deck top box (signal converter) and other small connectors of digital AV products.
