It is capable of reading and automatically distinguishing between ISO, CADMV, and AAMVA encoding formats. The 1260U is suitable for use in applications where both credit/debit card authorization and user database information are desired.

The programming features permit the sending of data only from specified fields on selected tracks and this provides the application developer with considerable flexibility in situations where customized data are required. Information such as name, address, and birthday may be automatically posted to application programs without pressing a single key.
