Operating Principle
Electroluminescent lamps are devices, which convert electrical energy into light or luminescence. As an AC voltage is applied to the electrodes, the electric field causes the phosphor to rapidly charge and discharge, resulting in the emission of light during each cycle. Since the number of light pulses depends on the magnitude of applied voltage, varying the operating voltage and frequency can generally control the brightness of EL lamps.
Application
1. Backlight of liquid crystal display example:
The LCD backlight of electrometer, telephone, B.B. call, remote - controller, game, etc.
2. The backlight of membrane switch example:
Automotive or instrument panel. Calculator keypad illumination, control panel backlight etc.
3. Car accessories example:
Instrument panel, door light, keypad lighting, vehicle instrument panels, etc.
4. Consumer product example:
Cycle trim & safety lighting, indicators & emergency lighting, P.O.P. lighting, table lights. Night - lights, photographic view backlight, clock & watch lights...etc.
5. Gift, badge, advertisement, toy & educational products lighting, photographic transparency backlighting...etc.
Advantage
The EL lamp is thin, flat and flexible. And the weight is very light.
The EL lamp is a cold lighting source and has no heat because of me electronic luminous emission.
It can be cut into any complex shape for lighting LCD, instrument panels, membrane keypad, and so on.
The light is flat and proportional.
The lamp can be made in a wide range of colors to meet customer request.
