L.D. Cleaner
The Cleaner is a high efficiency fine forward centrifugal cleaner. Its purpose is to remove contaminants that have a higher specific surface area than paper fiber.
The Cleaner operates as a static hydro cyclone. Stock enters tangentially at the top of the cylindrical section of the cyclone. The fluid starts a rotational flow pattern down the length of the cleaner.
The diameter of the cleaner begins to decrease which increases the rotational velocity of the fluid and initiates a macro flow reversal in the cleaner. The stock to be accepted reverses its flow and is removed through the pipe (accept overflow) at the centre of the cylindrical section. The stock to be rejected is concentrated on the outside wall of the cleaner and removed through a hold at the conical apex of the cleaner. In order to lower fiber losses, these cleaners are generally offered in multi-stage systems with the final stage having a fiber recovery system.
