W-LINX's affordable GS-162N is the best choice for workgroup environments. It's designed for medium to large scale networks that mix up Ethernet, Fast Ethernet, and Gigabit Ethernet devices.
The GS-162N allows up to 16 network devices to connect directly to switch 10/100Mbps 100BaseTX N-way ports, and 2 network devices to connect directly to 1000Mbps 1000BaseSX ports. Each port automatically negotiates to its highest speed, to easily accommodate networks in transmission from 10 to 1000Mbps. All ports can operate in half-or full-duplex mode, increasing the maximum bandwidth of each connection up to a blazing 20Mbps and 2000Mbps, respectively. Additionally, for long distance convenience, the two 1000BaseSX ports allow this device to be extended up to 525 meters each.
In pure Ethernet networks, the GS-162N dramatically increases total available bandwidth, reducing the congestion problem on local segments. By using the 1000Mbps links, the GS-162N delivers high-speed access, eliminates 10Mbps and 100Mbps bottlenecks of servers, shares resources, and backbone segments. The GS-162N features store-and-forward switching with back-pressure and flow control to optimize packet reliability.
The automatic wire-speed MAC address lookup and learning of up to 12K address make switch installation a quick and easy task. Monitoring of switch activities is provided through an LED panel display.
