S - Type Balance Expansion Joint
The S type balance, like the L type balance is provided with one bellows for balancing, on which bellows the internal pressure is applied to utilize its thrust for balancing. First, two bellows are provided, one bellows having two times the sectional area of the former. An internal pipe, worked like comb inside the bellows, makes the outer and inner bellows cross-link and communicate with each other. With the internal pressure applied, the thrust acts on the large outer bellows to expand it, while compressing the internal bellows connected to the outer one by the internal pipe... thus the thrust is extinguished by one another to make the bellows expand and contract easily. The S type balance is an epochmaking expansion join that can easily expand and contract by only spring reaction since it is installed on the straight pipe portion and the thrust does not act.
