Setu ATA - Introduction
Setu ATA converts VoIP networks to traditional
telephony interface and vice-versa
Setu ATA has a 2 channel (2 SIP Accounts) for VoIP calls
Allows 2 Simultaneous VoIP Calls using 2 FXS Ports
It can be interfaced with PBX or GSM FCT having FXS Port
There is no need to change PBX configuration
There is no need to upgrade PBX for making IP calls

- Voice Activity Detection (VAD)
- It is Software Application
- It allows detection of the Absence of Audio during Speech
- It Prevents the Transmission of " Silence Packets" over network
- When silence is observed, ATA does not send any acket on
- Network, which saves Bandwidth Utilization
- It is also Called 'Silence Suppression'
- VAD can be Enabled / Disabled to monitor signals over Voice Activity
- However when VAD is Enabled Voice Quality is Degraded as
- Less Bandwidth is available for communication
- QoS - Quality of Services
- QoS - Capability of a Network to Provide Better Service
- QoS is measured for various technologies like:

- QoS is required to provide priority on Bandwidth allocation,

- delivering data like LCR, Fastest Route
- > DiffServe (Differentiated Services) : It is like Class of Service,
- based on application types and traffic flow. Data Packets
- are marked with DiffServe Code Point indicating level of
- service desired
- NAT - Network Address Translation
- NAT - A technology used by Firewalls and Routers
- It allows multiple devices having private IP to work on a LAN
- to share a single public IP Address
- It translates private IP address into public IP address
- Translation is required for a device to communicate with
- other device on internet
- A Router doing such translation is known as a NAT Router
- NAT Router replaces source IP (Private IP) with its Own
- public IP before passing the traffic to the destination on Internet
- When a response is received, NAT Router searches its translation
- tables for Original Source Address from which device has started
- the Connection and then passes the response to that Device
- NAT is also called as 'IP Masquerading'
- Traffic Passing through NAT is called as 'NAT Traversal'
- STUN
- STUN - Simple Traversal of UDP over NATs
- UDP (User Datagram Protocol) is a Network Protocol for Transmitting Data that does not require acknowledgement from the recipient for the Data that is sent.
- STUN allows ATA to work behind Asymmetrical NAT
- STUN is a Client-Server protocol allowing the Client behind NAT to find out its Public Address, Type of NAT and Internet Side Port
- STUN Client (like ATA) sends a request to STUN server
- The server reports back to the STUN Client with the Public IP address of NAT Router and which port is Opened by NAT to allow incoming Traffic back into the Network
