How to install a TV wall mount

March 18th 2009
(NC)-Hanging a TV on the wall is fairly easy to do for the average do-it-yourselfer. Here are the basics of a typical install project:
1. Select a location on the wall where you want your TV to go. You should always watch TV at eye level to avoid neck and eye strain.
2. Use a stud finder to locate wood studs. These are fairly inexpensive and come in handy for many home projects.
3. Hold the mount's wall plate up to the wall and pre-drill holes into the studs. If installing into concrete or brick, insert a concrete anchor into each hole so it's flush to the wall. You'll need an adapter kit if your wall has metal studs.
4. Attach the wall plate to the wall.
5. Align the mounting holes on the back of the TV with the holes on the wall mount. Attach.

Sanitize the Air With Your Ceiling Fan

March 19, 2009
While cold and flu season may technically be over at the end of March, that doesn't mean that you are in the clear when it comes to you or your family's health. Wouldn't it be nice to keep your family healthy all year long? By simply turning on your ceiling fan, you can do just that with the Air Sanitizer by Luxair.
The Air Sanitizer is a patent-pending medallion that works with your ceiling fan. The medallion contains Ultraviolet subtype C (UV-C) light bulbs that eliminate germs and viruses lurking in the air that you breathe. The Air Sanitizer medallion attaches to the ceiling at the base of the ceiling fan. Luxair boasts that the Air Sanitizer kills 99% of bacteria, viruses and mold spores commonly found in the air. The 5 watt or 9 watt UV-C bulbs zap germs that cause the flu virus, tuberculosis, strep and staph infection.
UV-C light is a shortwave ultraviolet light that includes germicidal ultraviolet rays at the 253.7 nm wavelength. Before the contaminated air reaches the Air Sanitizer's UV-C energy field, dust particles and other allergens are trapped in its reusable filter. Just remove the filter, then vacuum or rinse with water to clean. The Air Sanitizer is activated every time you turn on your ceiling fan, sanitizing the air–within a three foot radius above your ceiling fan–every 15 minutes. Some of the Air Sanitizer's suggested uses include: hospitals, long-term care/assisted living facilities, schools, food service, mass transit and offices.
The UV-C bulbs are expected to last approximately 8,000 use hours, which is about ten times more than a standard 100 watt light bulb. The medallion cover is comprised of a UV and heat resistant polymer. The Air Sanitizer unit is constructed of rustproof galvannealed steel that combines galvanizing and annealing steel processes. As a result, the surface is porous so that the matte finish of the Air Sanitizer can be customized to match any décor through the use of interior latex paint.
The Original "Healthy Fan" Air Sanitizer includes (2) 5 watt UV-C bulbs and can be purchased for $119.00 plus shipping and handling. The "Healthy Fan II" Premium Air Sanitizer includes (2) 9 watt UV-C bulbs and sells for $140.00 plus shipping and handling. Both Air Sanitizers include a one-year limited warranty.
