Ferrite magnet, composed essentially of Fe2O3 (Ferric Oxide) and BaCo3 (Bariumar Bonate) or SrCo3 (Strontium Carbonate), offers an excellent cost/performance ratio. It is manufactured under a powder metallurgy process and classified into two types: Isotropic and Anisotropic. Isotropic is molded in absence of a magnetic field. Anisotropic can be further divided into "wet" and "dry" depending on pressing methods.
Ferrite magnet is substantially a kind of ceramic. Due to its excellent resistance to demagnetization and corrosion as well as the advantage of economic cost, it has been widely used in a variety of products and become popular in the market.
Practically, it is not necessary to make dimension precise by machining process, tolerance is generally approximately ±0.2% though it still depends on magnet shape. For a special application, the dimensional tolerance could be reduced to ±0.05mm by grinding after machining process. The residual flux density of ferrite magnet is subject to dimensional ratio, or magnet shape. If a magnet is designed for special use, such details as dimensional ratio and magnetizing direction are requested to provide for our reference.
