Manual Tong Dies

The blue diamond die offers superior performance by providing better utilization of its unique griping surface. The tech are crowned at the middle of the die, rather than being the same height along its full length. This crowned profile reduces end loading and assures a quick, positive (but gentle) grip under all torque loads. The results are greater efficiency and longer wear, with less marking and scarring of pipe. As a bonus feature, all dies are heat-treated with a special BJ process that assures uniform tooth hardness long life. Look for the unique diamond tooth pattern and distinctive blue finish. "RED TOP" tong dies: For those who prefer a standard-type die, BJ offers Red Top dies in a full range of types and sizes for use in manual drill pipe and casing tongs. Red Top dies are manufactured in three tired and proven tooth styles, as shown on this page: Pyramid, Plain and Coarse.
