Residual Current Devices(RCDs)
Residual Current Devices briefly RCDs, with a nominal current<30 mA are designed for protection of humans and animals against the dangerous effects of electric current. When parts under voltage are touched, the before any amount of duration off the current long before any amount or duration of current flow can cause damage. For this reason the use of RCDs in certain areas is mandantorily prescribed in section 7 of DIN VDE 0100. Such fields of application are, e.g., rooms with bath tubs or shower, saunas, indoor and outdoor swimming pools, farming facilities, outdoor sockets, etc.
