Miniature Circuit Breakers (MCBs) Type P*300

F & G Miniature circuit breakers are conform with national and international specifications, e.g. prEN 60898, BS 3871 and DIN VDE 0641 part 11. F & G MCBs comply with the requirements of modern electrical installations. MCBs are well suited to protect wires and cables against overcurrents. In dependence of the conductor cross section, the cable installation(in free air, concealed installation etc.) and the load (resistor, inductive or capacitive) MCBs with different rated currents and characteristics are developed. According to the British standard two different characteristics BS 3871 type 2 and type 3 are available. The thermal release(bimetal release) of both characteristics is the same. The long delay time tripping(>120 minutes) operates in a range of 1.95 and 1.3-fold the rated current. So the minimum current for the thermal release operates slightly above the rated current in order to protect electrical machinery against overload. The instantaneous(electromagnetic)release of type 2 operates in a field or 4-7-fold the rated current. The tripping current range of type 3 is between 7 -10-fold the rated current. According to the VDE norm 0641 part11 three other characteristics B, C, and D are available. In these cases the thermal release reacts at the same value between 1.13-1.45-fold the rated current. The instantaneous(electromagnetic)release of the b-characteristic operates between 3-5-fold the rated current. The tripping value of the C-characteristic varies in a range of 5-10-fold the rated current. The D-characteristic operates between 10-20-fold the rated current. BS type 3 and C-characteristic are ideally suited for the protection of electrical apparatus. The extended minimum operating current of the electromagnetic release protects against nuisance tripping due to high transient currents and starting currents of electrical machinery.
