Prestress Stretcher - New Technique For Restoration Of Deflected Girders Of Cranes
Overhead travelling cranes and gantry cranes are popular lifting machines extensively used in various industries and material distribution centers. Because of incorrect design, manufacture and operation, girders of these cranes often deflect. The deflection results in "rail gnawing" of crane wheels, trolley slippage or climbing during traversing, decrease of lifting capacity and emergency of accidents. METHOD FOR RESTORATION OF DEFLECTED GIRDERS OF CRANES invented by Mr. Fu Guohua and their colleagues of Patent Promotion Department of Jianxi Province, China, is a new technique for the restoration of deflected girders and the increase of lifting capacity of cranes. With a stretcher fitted to the girders, even and synchronous tension forces are generated to restore the deflected girders. This technique was granted state patent in 1994 and has been appraised by Chinese experts as a technique of advanced world level. Since 1990, the State Science and Technology Commission, the Ministry of Machinery Industry, the Ministry of Metallurgical Industry, the Ministry of Labor, the Patent Bureau of Jianxi Province, and Beijing Materials Handling Research Institute have promoted this technique in China. This new technique is now successfully applied in 100-plus medium-and large-sized enterprises, such as steel plant, airplane plant and automobile works etc. Two 30t*28.5moverhead travelling cranes in a heavy rolled steel plant are restored with Pre-stress Stretcher. These cranes have operated about 30 years. The girders deflected seriously, with rail-gnawing of crane wheels and climbing or slippage of trolley. After restoration, the camber of the girders conforms to the acceptance regulation, and the cranes operate smoothly underload. A sum of more than RMB two million for the purchase of two cranes is saved.
