II. Physical and chemical properties:
White block or powder without the smell, could also be yellowish or slight pink, sweet first and the pungent. No chemical change in the air. Below 760C under atmospheric pressure, it can sublimate. After being heated under atmospheric pressure, it's easy to decarboxylate to be phenol and carbon dioxide. Its aqueous solution appears acid reaction. It turns to purple with FeCI3. It is slightly soluble in water and dissloves in boiling water; it is very soluble in ethanol and ether and slightly dissolved in chloroform.
