It is engineered to duplicate the working characteristics of the older generation lead glass. Lead-free glass wont blacken, permitting fabricators to use "bushier" flames when heating and bending the tubing. It is stronger and lighter than leaded glass. And of course, its safer -- eliminating the possibility of lead fumes during fabrication, and permitting disposal without lead waste concerns.
Application
Applied for flare and exhaust tubing in incandescent and fluorescent lighting products. It is also used extensively for neon signs.
